POST-SOVIET QUEER INTERSECTIONALITY: IN SEARCH OF NEW VOCABULARIES
International workshop, March 24th – 25th 2018, Vienna, Campus Uni Wien, Search Results ÖH Uni Wien.
Discourses on social justice throughout post-soviet countries are not established and largely marginalized. Having been formed under strong influence of Western theoretical works and artistic expressions, these discourses, however, are often applied to quite different realities of post-soviet countries. Our presumption is that certain parts of their peculiarities remain unspoken due to absence of adequate language. Perhaps we need more suggestions – concepts, approaches and artistic experiments – in order to create a discursive space where rethinking of some universalist presumptions of the Western modernity can be possible. Our goals would be to collect a few case studies that are unique for postsoviet situations. Discussing them during workshop may help us in the future to outline a version of intersectional queer-feminist vocabulary sensible for the historical and social developments that have been taking place on the territories of former Second World.
